IVECO Bus elebrates 150,000 Buses Manufactured in Vysoké Mýto
The IVECO Bus plant in Czech Republic has reached the milestone of 150,000 buses produced. With more than 125 years dedicated to the production of buses and coaches, the factory benefits from recognized know-how in people transportation. Vysoké Mýto is the home of the Crossway range.
The factory is located 150 km east from Prague and has a long-lasting tradition of producing buses and coaches since its founding in 1895. This 150,000th bus rolled off its assembly lines 127 years after the first vehicle was produced at this plant. Over the last 15 years one third of the production were IVECO Bus Crossway’s. Vysoké Mýto was also the base of the historical companies Sodomka and Karosa. Many models born in the Vysoké Mýto plant have become world renowned and welcomed passengers for decades as there are the Škoda 706 RTO (14,969 units until 1971), Karosa Š 11 (26,769 units), Karosa 700 (37,166 units until 1999) and Karosa 900 (13,071 units) as well as nowadays the Crossway. Production of this IVECO Bus model started in 2006 and has gradually become the most successful intercity bus with more than 50,000 units sold.
With more than 3,800 employees, the IVECO Bus factory in Vysoké Mýtois is an important employer in Czech Republic, and Europe’s largest bus manufacturer with more than 4,000 vehicles produced per year since 2017. In 2020, it celebrated its 125th anniversary. “We are particularly proud to celebrate the 150,000th bus produced in Vysoké Mýto”, said Domenico Nucera, President Bus Business Unit, Iveco Group. “Thanks to our continuous ambitious long – term investment strategy, we will go on expanding our product portfolio with new low emission and full electric versions produced in this plant”.
