Cummins-Meritor’s Positive Pad Retraction (PPR) system
Cummins-Meritor®, a supplier of original equipment commercial vehicle brakes, has announced an extension to its aftermarket range with the launch of a Positive Pad Retraction (PPR) braking system. The patented PPR technology is designed to enable brake pads to retract from the disc at an improved rate and maintain factory-running clearance, reducing brake drag.
It will benefit from Meritor’s Aftermarket two-year warranty
During a range of tests*, a significant drag reduction of 71% was recorded on brakes fitted with PPR technology fitted vs the same brakes without PPR technology. Reductions in drag can lead to improved brake pad and disc longevity, as well as increased fuel efficiency, thereby reducing CO2 emissions.
Cummins-Meritor Aftermarket PPR brake pad kits are designed for Volvo and Renault truck applications. The new PPR Pad kits will provide a user-friendly retrofit solution, offering customers product benefits for current vehicles. The new kits will be launched to the European aftermarket from September 2023 and will benefit from Meritor’s Aftermarket two-year warranty.
Andy Hill, Senior Business Line Manager, at Cummins-Meritor, said: “We remain dedicated to creating innovative products that deliver elevated performance with consistent results. PPR technology exemplifies these values. It’s the first of its kind for Meritor applications that empowers our customers to improve the longevity and efficiency of their vehicles.
“We look forward to introducing PPR to customers over the coming months and developing more innovative products as part of our Cummins-Meritor Destination Zero strategy”.
